Exotics all have their own specific care requirements, diets, and medical conditions. They also hide signs of illness. This makes regular examinations essential.
We have an in-house laboratory with a special bloodwork analyzer capable of running a blood panel on a very small amount of blood. Other in-house tests we can perform include fecal exams, urinalysis, and cytology. We can also obtain samples for sending to outside laboratories. Most of our patients cannot swallow pills, so we also offer in-house compounding of medications into liquids, and we can flavor medication for your pet’s taste! We have specialized equipment such as small incubators for providing heat and oxygen if needed. We also feature an ICU facility in the main area of the hospital, where staff can provide constant observation of our patients.
Exotic pets require special needs both at home and at the veterinary hospital. Orchard Veterinary Medical Center cares for patients running the gambit from “pocket pets” to reptiles. We are equipped to offer treatment for a variety of exotics and can offer advice on proper conditions for their home environment.
